Job summary

NFU Mutual is seeking a Senior Personal Lines Technical Underwriter to shape underwriting strategy across the Personal Lines range, with a primary focus on Private Car. The role involves defining risk appetite, terms and policy features, and translating appetite into actionable guidance for Agents and Underwriters.

You will analyse portfolio performance, use data-led judgement, and collaborate with Pricing, Sales, Agency, Claims, and Product teams to deliver sustainable profit and fair customer

Qualifications

• Proven Personal Lines underwriting experience including Private Car
• Experience shaping underwriting strategy and risk appetite
• Translate underwriting appetite into practical guidance for Agents/Underwriters
• Strong data interpretation to inform decisions and recommendations
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities

Responsibilities

• Recommend and develop underwriting strategy for Personal Lines, especially Private Car.
• Define risk appetite, terms and features, and translate into guidance for agents/underwriters.
• Use data and portfolio performance to identify opportunities and inform decisions.
• Collaborate with Pricing, Sales, Agency, Claims, Product and Regions to implement guidance.
• Provide expert judgement on complex/high-value cases within authority and procedures.
