Job summary

awg in Grimsby is seeking a Permit Control Officer to manage the permit-to-work lifecycle for high-risk activities at our Water Recycling Centre. You will lead daily permit meetings, validate risk assessments, and ensure work is authorised and safe.

You will collaborate with site teams and contractors, drive continuous improvement, and help us meet health, safety and environmental targets. The role is full-time (37 hours) with flexibility for part-time, based in Grimsby.

Qualifications

• Demonstrable experience working within a Permit To Work system on high-hazard sites.
• A strong understanding of health & safety and process safety regulations.
• Proven ability to assess risks and make sound operational decisions.
• Excellent communication and influencing skills with the confidence to drive improvements.
• A passion for teamwork, continuous learning and delivering high-quality results.
• Health & safety qualification (minimum IOSH level).

Responsibilities

• Manage, issue, and close permits for site activities with robust risk assessment and compliance.
• Host daily permit meetings to coordinate tasks and prevent conflicts (SIMOPs).
• Conduct site inductions, inspections and audits to uphold safety standards.
• Oversee mechanical and electrical isolations (LOTO) and site access controls.
• Support incident management and communicate lessons learned.
• Collaborate with operational teams to drive efficiency and continuous improvement.
