Job summary

awg in Colchester is seeking a Permit Control Officer to oversee the complete lifecycle of the permit-to-work process for high-risk activities within our Water Recycling Bioresources Treatment Team.

You will drive daily permit meetings, validate risk assessments, monitor compliance, and lead on-site safety initiatives to minimise risks and support continuous improvement across operations.

Qualifications

• Experience working with a Permit To Work system on high-hazard sites.
• Solid understanding of health & safety and process safety regulations.
• Proven ability to assess risks and make sound operational decisions.

Responsibilities

• Manage, issue, and close permits for site activities with robust risk assessments and compliance.
• Host daily permit meetings to coordinate tasks and prevent conflicts (SIMOPs).
• Conduct site inductions, inspections, and audits to uphold safety standards.
• Oversee mechanical and electrical isolations (LOTO) and site access controls.
• Support incident management and communicate lessons learned.
• Collaborate with teams to drive efficiency and continuous improvement.
