Job summary

Anglian Water Services in Colchester is seeking a Permit Control Officer to help ensure the safe, efficient and compliant operation of our largest Water Recycling Centres.

You will oversee the complete lifecycle of the permit-to-work (PTW) process for high-risk activities, including hot work, confined space entry, and electrical isolation, while working closely with site teams and contractors to keep work authorized, coordinated and safe.

Qualifications

• Experience with Permit To Work systems on operational or high-hazard sites.
• Knowledge of health & safety regulations and process safety.
• Ability to assess risks and make sound operational decisions.
• Excellent communication and influencing skills.
• A passion for teamwork, continuous learning and delivering quality results.

Responsibilities

• Manage, issue and close permits for site activities with robust risk assessment.
• Host daily permit meetings to coordinate tasks and prevent conflicts (SIMOPs).
• Conduct site inductions, inspections and audits to uphold safety standards.
• Oversee mechanical and electrical isolations (LOTO) and site access controls.
• Support incident management and communicate lessons learned.
• Collaborate with operations to drive efficiency and continuous improvement; ensure permit compliance with directives.
