Job summary

Anglian Water Group Ltd. in Grimsby is seeking a Permit Control Officer to manage the permit-to-work process for high-risk activities at our Water Recycling Bioresources Treatment Centre.

You will ensure work is authorised, coordinated and compliant, driving safety and efficiency onsite. You will lead daily permit meetings, validate risk assessments and support site teams and contractors to minimise risk and improve performance.

Qualifications

• Demonstrable experience with a Permit To Work system on high-hazard sites.
• Strong understanding of health & safety and process safety regulations.
• Proven ability to assess risks and make sound operational decisions.
• Excellent communication and influencing skills with the confidence to challenge and drive improvement.
• Passion for teamwork, continuous learning and delivering high-quality results.
• Health & safety qualification (minimum IOSH level).

Responsibilities

• Manage, issue, and close permits for site activities with robust risk assessment and compliance.
• Host daily permit meetings to coordinate tasks and prevent conflicts (SIMOPs).
• Conduct site inductions, inspections, and audits to uphold safety standards.
• Oversee mechanical and electrical isolations (LOTO) and site access controls.
• Support incident management and communicate lessons learned.
• Collaborate with operational teams and stakeholders to drive efficiency and continuous improvement.
• Support with Industrial Emissions Directive, Water Recycling Centre and Sludge Treatment Centre permit compliance.
