Payroll Supervisor Job Description

Are you detail-oriented, organized, and ready to be a crucial part of a leading chartered accountancy practice? We’re seeking a dedicated Payroll Supervisor to join our team and manage their internal team.

Responsibilities

The role involves supporting the Payroll Manager in delivering efficient payroll and pension services, ensuring compliance with regulations, and working alongside a small team of payroll professionals (100-400 employees).

  1. Processing payrolls from beginning to end in accordance with current legislation, policies, processes, and timelines, ensuring all transactions are approved by an authorized person.
  2. Processing leavers, calculating holiday payments, PILON, and other termination payments.
  3. Calculating absences, including sickness, leave, and statutory payments.
  4. Processing other payments/deductions, including auto-enrolment, court orders, and contractual payments, while ensuring audit and statutory requirements are met.
  5. Inputting changes to employee personal details, such as bank account and address information.
  6. Inputting statutory changes, P45, P46, P6, P9, student loan notices, and court orders.
  7. Maintaining confidentiality and protecting sensitive files appropriately.
  8. Making ad-hoc payroll payments and supporting the team in responding to queries.
  9. Keeping up-to-date with payroll legislation and internal policies.
  10. Ensuring all payroll deadlines are met with high quality standards.
  11. Processing and paying all payrolls on time, including pensions, PAYE/NI.
  12. Maintaining accurate and current employee files, policies, and procedures.
  13. Supporting various payroll projects.
  14. Monitoring the payroll inbox and addressing queries promptly.
  15. Performing any other payroll-related tasks to meet deadlines.
Experience
  • Minimum of 5+ years’ experience in payroll.
  • Clients or bureau experience preferred.
