Job description

Job Title: Payroll Team Leader (6-Month Fixed Term Contract)

Our Central London-based client, an organisation responsible for overseeing HR, Payroll, and Employee services, is currently recruiting for a Payroll Team Leader on a 6-month fixed-term contract for maternity cover.

Contract Details:

  • Hours: 37 hours per week
  • Hybrid working: Two days in the office per month
  • Salary: GBP43,000 per annum
Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage a team of six payroll staff and serve as the first point of contact for escalations
  • Monitor monthly client allocations, pension uploads, BACS schedules, and collect monthly statistics
  • Process payroll data received from the client HR department and line managers, including starters, leavers, pay reviews, adjustments, sickness, and changes of hours
  • Respond promptly and effectively to telephone and email queries from clients, employees, and third parties
  • Manage your workload and ensure deadlines are met
  • Handle payroll changes arising from queries, such as overpayments and payments
  • Check data for accuracy and maintain an audit trail
  • Ensure service delivery targets are met and strive to exceed them
  • Adhere to Data Protection Act, confidentiality, organisational policies, and quality standards
Essential Attributes:
  • Highly organised with strong prioritisation skills
  • Self-dependent with the ability to work independently
  • Ability to meet tight deadlines
  • Strong numeracy skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Strong IT skills, including knowledge of IRIS (Star Professional) and Zellis (Northgate software)
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation, procedures, and Service Level Agreements
