Job summary

Teign Housing is seeking a Payroll and Finance Coordinator to join our Finance & Investments Team. In this varied role, you will process payroll and financial transactions for internal and external customers, ensuring accuracy, timeliness and compliance.

Collaborating with Finance, HR and the wider organisation, you will drive high standards of service delivery and financial control as we grow with our house-build and repair subsidiary, joining One Team across Devon.

Qualifications

  • Experience in UK payroll processing and financial administration.
  • Knowledge of UK payroll legislation, HMRC requirements and pensions.
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

  • Process end-to-end payroll and maintain records for starters, leavers and changes.
  • Calculate statutory payments and deductions (tax, NI, pensions).
  • Reconcile payroll accounts and resolve discrepancies.
  • Support budgeting, forecasting and variance analysis.
  • Provide general finance support including invoices and reconciliations.

We’re now looking for a detail-oriented and proactive Payroll and Finance Coordinator to join our Finance & Investments Team. Bring your skills, your ideas, and your drive, and help us shape the future of housing in Devon.

About the Payroll and Finance Coordinator Role

In this varied and rewarding role, you will play a key part in ensuring the accurate and timely processing of payroll and financial transactions for our internal and external customers, supporting the organisation’s overall financial operations and compliance.

Collaborating closely with colleagues across Finance, HR, and the wider organisation, you will ensure high standards of service delivery and financial control.

What You’ll Be Doing
  • Processing end-to-end payroll and maintaining records and lifecycles, including starters, leavers and contract changes
  • Calculating statutory payments and deductions, including tax, NI, and pensions
  • Reconciling payroll accounts, identifying and resolving discrepancies
  • Improving the use of systems, processes and technology for efficiency and accuracy
  • Supporting budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis
  • General finance support, including processing invoices, performing bank and balance sheet reconciliations.
About You

We’re looking for someone who is:

  • Experienced in UK payroll processing, financial administration and working with finance systems and reconciliations
  • Knowledgeable in UK payroll legislation, HMRC requirements, pensions, and statutory payments
  • Highly organised with strong attention to detail
  • Technologically savvy, able to propose improvements and confident using finance/payroll systems and Excel
  • Able to manage multiple priorities and meet strict deadlines
  • Discreet and professional when managing confidential information
  • A strong communicator with a customer-focused approach
