Job summary

National Highways is seeking an Engineer to join the Pavement/Roads Team within the Operations Directorate in the South East region. You will lead the development and delivery of pavement renewal schemes to keep the SRN safe and reliable for customers now and in the future.

Working with other professional engineers and stakeholders, you will develop early solutions, prepare technical briefs for design and construction contractors, and support project managers with materials approvals and site

Qualifications

Membership of professional body desirable or working towards membership.
Degree or HND in relevant discipline and appropriate experience, or equivalent.
Good knowledge of DMRB standards and their application on the highway network.
Experience in highway infrastructure design, construction and delivery methods.
Good knowledge of CDM 2015.

Responsibilities

Ensure health and safety needs of customers and employees are considered in planning and delivery of services.
Support asset studies and survey works, prioritising needs to keep assets in serviceable condition.
Develop early solutions for renewals and improvements, including options for value management and costs.
Develop technical briefs for design and construction contractors for improvement and renewals work.
Provide technical support to Project Managers with materials approvals, vetting contractors, site inspections and Health and Safety Files.
