Pavement Renewal Engineer – Lead Highway Schemes

Job summary

National Highways in the South East seeks an Engineer to lead pavement renewal schemes within the Pavement/Roads Team. You will develop and deliver schemes, coordinate with project teams and third parties, and provide technical support across the region to keep the SRN safe and reliable.

Based in Basingstoke or Maidstone, the role may require unsociable hours and travel with a driving requirement; you’ll ensure adherence to DM RB standards and asset strategies.

Qualifications

• Membership of professional Body (desirable) or working towards Membership.
• Degree or HND in relevant discipline and appropriate experience, or equivalent.
• Good knowledge of Design Manual for Roads and Bridges (DMRB) standards and their application on the highway network.
• Experience in highway infrastructure design, construction and delivery methods.
• Good knowledge of CDM 2015.

Responsibilities

• Lead the development and delivery of pavement renewal schemes.
• Coordinate works across the region and provide technical support.
• Develop early solutions for renewals and/or improvements, including assessment of options.
• Develop technical briefs provided to the design and construction contractor.
• Provide technical support to Project Managers with materials approvals, vetting of contractors' compliance, site inspections, and Health and Safety Files.
• Drive as part of the role; unsociable hours may be required.
