Job summary

National Highways is seeking an Engineer to join the Pavement/Roads Team in the Operations Directorate, South East region. You will lead the development and delivery of pavement renewal schemes to ensure the SRN safely meets customer needs.

You will support asset studies, coordinate with project teams and third parties, and help develop early solutions, briefs for designers/contractors, and site inspections. Some roles may require unsociable hours.

Qualifications

• Membership of professional body desirable or working towards membership.
• Degree or HND in relevant discipline or equivalent.
• Good knowledge of Design Manual for Roads and Bridges (DMRB) standards and their application.

Responsibilities

• Lead in development and delivery of pavement renewal schemes for the SRN.
• Support asset studies, prioritise needs and ensure assets stay in serviceable condition.
• Develop early renewal solutions, compile evidence and options for value management.
• Provide briefs to design/contractor teams and assist with materials approvals and site inspections.
• Coordinate works with project teams and third parties; ensure CDM compliance.
