Job summary

NHS Lanarkshire is seeking a patient scheduler to join the Referral Management Service. You will record referrals on the Patient Management System, schedule appointments that respect clinical priorities and waiting targets, and ensure accurate patient identification across multiple sites.

The role operates Monday to Thursday 9am–5pm and Friday 8:30am–4:30pm, on a fixed-term basis for 12 months with potential secondment arrangements.

Qualifications

• SVQ Level 3 or equivalent experience in administrative role within NHS setting.
• Experience in a busy contact centre/office environment.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Strong organisational and planning abilities for scheduling across sites.

Responsibilities

• Print, collate and record referrals on PMS, prioritising urgent cases.
• Interpret terminology to direct referrals to appropriate clinician/service.
• Perform positive patient identification and match to history.
• Maintain accurate patient demographics and CHI number on PMS.
