Job summary

University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Patient Administrator for the Supportive and Palliative Care team. The role is permanent and focuses on providing comprehensive administrative support to clinicians and patients along the care pathway.

The successful candidate will manage patient records, coordinate appointments, handle correspondence, and ensure timely information flow across services.

Qualifications

  • Good standard of secondary education with literacy and numeracy skills demonstrable to GCSE pass level or equivalent.
  • Experience as an administrator or secretary in an organisation with a customer focused environment.
  • Knowledge of secretarial or administrative procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Implement administrative processes along the patient pathway to ensure timely and efficient patient journeys.
  • Utilise computerised systems to locate case notes and investigation results and update patient information.
  • Liaise with Private Patient Coordinators to ensure a seamless patient journey.
  • Monitor and process referral requests and log outcomes in the patient information system.
  • Provide patient administration service for regional clinics.
  • Receive and process enquiries, maintaining accurate records and acting promptly.
