Job summary

Dr C M Wilson & Partners in Preston is seeking an enthusiastic Medical Receptionist / Care Navigator to support a busy GP Practice. The role requires primary care experience, EMIS knowledge, and NHS customer service skills.

You will handle appointments, navigate patients to the right clinician, manage prescriptions, and perform general reception duties in a high-volume environment. Flexibility to cover reception positions, maintain confidentiality, and work 8.00am–6.30pm Monday to Friday is

Qualifications

• At least 12 months experience in primary care.
• EMIS clinical system knowledge is essential.
• NHS customer service skills are desirable.
• Clinical Coding skills are desirable.

Responsibilities

• Receive, assist and navigate patients to the appropriate clinician or service.
• Maintain confidentiality at all times.
• Be able to cover all reception positions as necessary.
• Process appointment requests by telephone, online or in person.
• Organise visit requests and register new patients.
• Process patient's change of address using knowledge of the Practice area.
• Manage repeat prescription requests in line with Practice guidelines.
• Scan letters onto patient records.
• Liaise with District Nurses, Hospitals, Health Visitors etc as required.
• Work as part of a team whilst maintaining professionalism and prioritising workload.
