Job summary

Wigton Group Medical Practice in Wigton is seeking a friendly and proactive primary care medical receptionist/Care Navigator to join our busy patient services team.

This 30-hour-per-week role involves daily face-to-face and telephone contact, arranging appointments, signposting to appropriate services, and supporting the clinical team to deliver a polite, efficient service. Training will be provided in NHS care navigation with opportunities for further development for the right candidate.

Qualifications

• Experience in NHS or primary care reception preferred.
• Strong verbal and written communication.
• Ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Responsibilities

• Process and effectively signpost patients to the appropriate healthcare professional, depending on the presenting condition.
• Answer incoming phone calls, transferring calls or dealing with the callers requests appropriately.
• Process patient requests for appointments.
• Direct requests for repeat prescription or medication queries to the correct team.
• Initiate contact with and respond to requests from patients, team members and external agencies.
• Enter SNOMED CT code data on EMIS.
• Photocopy / scan documentation as required.
• Data entry of new and temporary registrations and relevant patient information as required.
• Input data into the patients healthcare records as necessary.
• Direct requests for information, e.g., SAR, insurance/solicitors letters and DVLA forms, to the administrative team.
• Manage all queries as necessary in an efficient manner.
• Carry out system searches as requested.
• Maintain a clean, tidy, effective working area at all times.
• Monitor and maintain the reception area and noticeboards.
• Support all clinical staff with general tasks as requested.
