Brown University Health seeks a Patient Access/Financial Counselor under supervision to interview and register inpatients, outpatients and ED patients, gathering demographic, insurance and financial information and entering it into the hospital system for accurate billing.

The role includes collecting co-pays, explaining consent and financial forms, and coordinating with the Pre-Registration Office and Patient Financial Advocates to resolve coverage gaps and determine expected payments.

Formación

• Interview patients or their representatives to obtain complete demographic, insurance and financial information.
• Ensure accurate data entry into hospital information system for billing and records.
• Explain and obtain signatures on consent and financial forms as required.

Responsabilidades

• Greets and directs patients, families and visitors.
• Interviews patients to obtain third party health insurance information.
• Follows up on missing data by contacting employers or facilities.
• Registers patients in the hospital system and upgrades account status.
• Verifies demographic and insurance information with open-ended questions.
• Distributes and collects financial clearance information and referrals as needed.
• Determines self-pay balances and notifies Patient Financial Advocates for complex cases.
• Collects co-payments per policy and logs payments.
