Job summary

Hywel Dda University Health Board is seeking a part-time Medical Laboratory Assistant to join the Pathology Reception team at Glangwili General Hospital, Carmarthen. The role involves handling samples, data entry, and acting as the first point of contact for patients and staff. Training will be provided; Welsh language ability is desirable.

The post is 20 hours per week, with a rota including potential evening, weekend, and bank holidays; interviews are scheduled for 29/10/2026.

Qualifications

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Keyboard and computer skills; attention to detail.
• Welsh language ability desirable; English/Welsh speakers welcome.

Responsibilities

• Receive and handle samples.
• Enter patient details into the Laboratory computer system and transport samples to laboratory areas.
• Act as first point of contact for patients and nursing/medical staff, face to face and by telephone.
