Job summary

Cardiff and Vale University Health Board is seeking a motivated individual to join the Phlebotomy section at Prince Philip Hospital, Llanelli, on a permanent part-time contract (20 hours per week).

The role involves blood collection by venepuncture across wards, outpatients and outreach clinics, with weekend/SBH rota commitment and additional remuneration. Training will be provided on commencement, and you will work as part of a team to ensure efficient, patient‑friendly blood sampling services.

Qualifications

• Experience in blood sample collection by venepuncture.
• Phlebotomy and transfusion-related certificates.
• Flexible to rota and weekend coverage.

Job description

We are currently looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to work 20 hours per week. This is a permanent, part time post within the Phlebotomy section of the Pathology Department at Prince Philip Hospital, Llanelli. There is a requirement to participate on the Saturday, Sunday and Bank Holiday rota. (There is extra remuneration for staff on this rota). Main duties of the job The successful candidate will be required to be flexible to the needs of the service and to undertake a wide range of duties appropriate to the section but will mainly be involved with the collection of blood samples by venepuncture for analysis from the Wards, Out Patients Department and Outreach Clinics. Training will be provided on commencement for aspects specific to the department. The post holder will assist in the provision of an efficient, caring and smooth running Phlebotomy service and will work as part of a team to provide a blood sample collection service to wards, clinics and other locations when deemed necessary. The work requires a flexible approach to hours of employment. You will be able to find a full job description and person specification attached within the supporting documents.
