Job summary

Hywel Dda University Health Board is recruiting a permanent part-time Band 2 Medical Laboratory Assistant for the Pathology Reception team at Glangwili General Hospital, Carmarthen. The role is 20 hours weekly, 9:00-13:00, Monday to Friday, with potential to join the weekday evening, weekend, and Bank Holiday rota for extra remuneration.

Excellent communication, keyboard and computer skills, and a team-oriented, flexible approach are essential. Welsh language ability is desirable.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 GCSEs to include Mathematics, English & Science @ A – D or NVQ level 2 qualification.
• Previous Laboratory Experience

Responsibilities

• Receiving and handling samples
• Entering patient details into the Laboratory’s computer system
• Transporting samples to laboratory areas
• Acting as first point of contact for patients and nursing/medical staff
• Full in-house training provided on commencement
