Job summary

The Downs Primary School and Nursery invites applications for a Part Time SENCO to support our SEND provision. The role suits an experienced SENCo or an outstanding teacher new to SEND, in a supportive and collaborative environment.

Position: 60% - 19.5 hours per week. Salary depends on experience, with MPS/UPS & TLR2A. Closing date: 28 October 2026. Interviews will be held on 30 October 2026.

Qualifications

• Established and evidenced practice with children with a variety of SEND.
• Ability to teach lessons challenge, motivate and inspire all students.
• A passion for teaching and making a real difference to young people.
• Commitment to safeguarding and child protection.

Responsibilities

• Ensuring that the Academy meets all its legal obligations under the most recent version of the SEND Code of Practice
• Working with students, subject leaders and class teachers with tutorial/pastoral responsibilities to ensure that realistic expectations are set for students with SEND.
• Lead and line manage the SEND Team
• Develop and maintain effective partnerships with parents/carers of students with SEND/Additional Needs so as to promote students' learning; communicate effectively; provide information to parents/carers about targets, achievements and progress.
