Job summary

Prospero Teaching seeks a Part-Time SENCo to lead inclusive SEND provision across our primary/secondary school in the West Midlands (Solihull). The role is Tuesday–Thursday, with a flexible, maternity-cover/temporary-to-permanent contract arrangement.

The SENCo will oversee EHCPs, SEND support, and vulnerable learners, line-managing SEND TAs and pastoral staff, shaping policy and practice with SLT input.

Qualifications

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) in the UK.
• NASENCO qualification or willingness to complete/experienced practitioner.
• Strong working knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice.

Responsibilities

• Oversee SEND policy, graduated response, and school-wide inclusive practice.
• Manage EHCP annual reviews, LA statutory assessments, and SEN register tracking.
• Collaborate with parents/carers, class teachers, and external agencies (Educational Psychologists, Speech & Language, CAMHS).
• Monitor interventions, evaluate pupil progress data, and report to SLT and Governors.

About the Role

Are you an experienced, strategic SENCo looking for a high-impact, flexible leadership role?

We are seeking a passionate SENCo to lead, shape, and drive inclusive SEND provision across our warm and ambitious primary/secondary school.

Non-class-based leadership focused on strategic development.

Lead the provision for pupils with EHCPs (Education, Health and Care Plans), SEN support, and vulnerable learners. Line manage SEND teaching assistants and pastoral support staff.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee the SEND policy, graduated response, and school-wide inclusive practice.
• Statutory Compliance: Manage EHCP annual reviews, LA statutory assessments, and SEN register tracking.
• Collaboration: Partner closely with parents/carers, class teachers, and external agencies (Educational Psychologists, Speech & Language, CAMHS).
• Quality Assurance: Monitor interventions, evaluate pupil progress data, and report to the Senior Leadership Team (SLT) and Governors.

Requirements Qualifications

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) in the UK.
• National Award for Special Educational Needs Coordination (NASENCO qualification) or willingness to complete / experienced practitioner.
• Strong working knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice
