Job summary

The Downs Primary School and Nursery is seeking a Part Time SENCO to join our SEND provision. The role starts January 2027 and focuses on leading the SEND Team and supporting students with diverse needs.

We welcome experienced SENCOs and teachers moving into SEND. The post offers MPS/UPS plus TLR2A (£4,057.00 FT per annum) and a 19.5 hour week (60%), with closing date 28 October 2026 and interviews planned.

The Downs Primary School have an exciting opportunity for a Part Time SENCO to join our SEND provision in our school.

The position will suit an experienced SENCo who is empathetic with outstanding people skills. Applications from outstanding teachers taking their first steps into special educational needs will also be considered.

Some of the key responsibilities will include:

• Ensuring that the Academy meets all its legal obligations under the most recent version of the SEND Code of Practice
• Working with students, subject leaders and class teachers with tutorial/pastoral responsibilities to ensure that realistic expectations are set for students with SEND.
• Lead and line manage the SEND Team
• Develop and maintain effective partnerships with parents/carers of students with SEND/Additional Needs so as to promote students' learning; communicate effective; provide information to parents/carers about targets, achievements and progress.

60% - 19.5 hours per week
