Job summary

HC-One is looking for a Kitchen Assistant to join our care home team in Gateshead. The role supports delivery of nutritious meals, ensuring warmth and dignity in every resident interaction, and adherence to food safety practices.

You’ll work about 20 hours per week, with training provided. NVQ2 in Catering or Food Preparation or willingness to work towards it is preferred. DBS/PVG checks, staff benefits, and development opportunities are included.

Qualifications

• NVQ2 in Catering or Food Preparation or willingness to work towards it.
• Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to follow recipes and record information accurately.
• Demonstrates patience, respect and kindness with Residents.

Responsibilities

• Assist with meal preparation under the direction of the Chef or Cook.
• Serve meals with warmth and respect in a timely and friendly manner.
• Maintain kitchen cleanliness and hygiene of equipment and surfaces.
• Monitor and record food storage temperatures.
• Support stock rotation and proper storage of ingredients.
• Show new team members how to safely use kitchen equipment.
• Wash up and keep the kitchen spotless after busy periods.
