Job summary

HC-One is seeking a Kitchen Assistant to help prepare and serve nutritious meals for residents, while maintaining a clean, safe kitchen. You’ll work closely with the care team to support residents’ health and wellbeing, upholding dignity and respect in every interaction.

Applicants should have some kitchen experience and a willingness to pursue NVQ2 in Catering or Food Preparation. The role emphasizes kindness, patience, and accurate record-keeping, with safeguarding training provided.

Qualifications

• NVQ2 in Catering or Food Preparation or willingness to work towards it.
• Some kitchen experience and a real passion for helping others.
• Ability to follow recipes and record information accurately.
• Safeguarding training or willingness to undertake training.

Responsibilities

• Assist with meal prep under the Chef or Cook.
• Serve meals warmly and respectfully.
• Maintain kitchen cleanliness and hygiene of equipment and surfaces.
• Monitor and record storage temperatures (fridges/freezers).
• Support stock rotation and proper ingredient storage.
• Show new team members how to use kitchen equipment safely.
• Wash up and keep the kitchen tidy after busy periods.
