Job summary

HC-One is seeking a Kitchen Assistant to support high-quality care through nutritious meals. You will assist with meal preparation, serve meals with warmth, and uphold kitchen cleanliness and safety standards.

The role supports residents with dietary needs and records storage temperatures, while participating in stock rotation and equipment training. Experience is helpful, with NVQ2 in Catering or Food Preparation preferred or a willingness to pursue it.

Qualifications

• NVQ2 in Catering or Food Preparation or willingness to work towards it.

Responsibilities

• Assist with meal preparation under the direction of the Chef or Cook.
• Serve meals with warmth and respect in a timely and friendly manner.
• Maintain cleanliness and hygiene in the kitchen, including equipment and surfaces.
• Monitor and record food storage temperatures (fridges, freezers, etc.).
• Support stock rotation and ensure ingredients are properly stored.
• Show new team members how to safely use kitchen equipment.
• Wash up and keep the kitchen spotless, including after busy lunch periods.
