Job summary

BaxterStorey Derby is seeking a part-time Commis Chef to join our kitchen team. You will work Monday to Friday, 7.00am to 14.15pm, at Severn Trent, Derby, earning £13.45 per hour.

The role focuses on food preparation, station management and maintaining high culinary standards with strong emphasis on food safety. You'll collaborate closely with senior chefs, learn diverse cooking techniques, and contribute to ongoing menu development while enjoying a supportive environment and opportunities for

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Commis Chef or in a similar role.
• Knowledge of various cooking techniques and cuisines.
• Strong understanding of food safety and sanitation practices.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
• Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.
• Strong communication and teamwork abilities.

Responsibilities

• Food Preparation – prepare and cook dishes according to recipes and standards set by head/sous chef.
• Station Management – oversee production of dishes for your station and maintain cleanliness.
• Quality Control – uphold high quality, presentation and taste of dishes.
• Team Collaboration – work with colleagues to support operations.
• Menu Development – assist head chef with new recipes and improvements.
