Job summary

Royal Mail in Sunderland is hiring a Postie (Postal Delivery Driver) on a fixed-term 6-month contract. You’ll be delivering letters and parcels in Sunderland, working 25 hours per week across five days, with 15:00–20:00 shifts and some weekend work.

You’ll need a full manual UK driving licence, be physically fit to walk long distances, and enjoy working outdoors. Full training provided, with a Royal Mail van and uniform.

Compensation is £13.68 per hour, paid monthly, with overtime available.

About You

We’ll provide full training, a uniform, and an iconic red van. You’ll need:

• A full manual UK driving licence (maximum 6 penalty points, registered to your current name and address)
• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and able to pass a driving assessment
• Physically fit and comfortable walking long distances, climbing stairs / hills, and lifting / carrying 10kg+ mailbags
• Reliable and self-motivated
• Strong organisation and resilience in a busy environment
• Customer-focused, with pride in delivering great service
• Comfortable working outdoors and independently
