Job summary

Royal Mail in Workington is hiring a Postie (Postal Delivery Driver) on a fixed-term 9-month contract. You will deliver letters and parcels in your local area, using a Royal Mail van, and work outdoors in all weather. You’ll follow a rotating shift schedule, 30 hours per week across 5 days in 6, with some weekend work.

Full training provided, plus uniform and a red van. Eligibility includes a full manual UK driving licence (up to 6 penalty points).

Qualifications

• A full manual UK driving licence (maximum 6 penalty points, registered to your current name and address).
• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and able to pass a driving assessment.
• Physically fit and comfortable walking long distances, climbing stairs / hills, and lifting / carrying 10kg+ mailbags.
• Reliable and self-motivated.
• Strong organisation and resilience in a busy environment.
• Customer-focused, with pride in delivering great service.
• Comfortable working outdoors and independently.

Location: Workington Delivery Office, CA14 2AA

Job type: Fixed Term contract 9 months

Salary: £13.68 per hour* (paid monthly) + paid overtime available.

Working hours: 30:00 hours per week – working 5 days in 6 across Monday - Saturday – 08:30/14:30*
