Job summary

Leonardo UK Ltd in Edinburgh offers an Electronic Engineering Summer Placement for 13 weeks, running from 1st June to 27th August 2027. You will work on real-time avionics sensor projects, spending on-site three to four days weekly, and gain hands-on experience across design, testing, and integration.

You will learn practical hardware development skills under supervision, with potential to progress to future placements or the Graduate Development Programme, in a collaborative, multidisciplinary

Qualifications

• Minimum upper Second class Bachelor’s/Integrated Master’s degree in Electronics Engineering, Engineering Science, Physics, or related field.
• Interest in Electronics/Hardware disciplines (e.g. RF, Microwave, Power Supply, FPGAs, High-Speed Digital).
• Strong communication, self-motivation and collaboration across teams.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to solving real life engineering problems on avionics sensor systems.
• Collaborate across disciplines to meet project targets and solve problems.
• Apply academic knowledge to design, test, qualification and technology support.
• Develop hardware design skills using ECAD tools and testing equipment.
