Job summary

Leonardo UK Ltd in Edinburgh is offering a 13‑week paid Summer Placement for Software Engineering students. You will work on real avionics software projects, applying your university knowledge to practical, industry-grade problems and learning from experienced engineers.

The role focuses on real-time software development in avionics, with mentorship and a path toward future graduate opportunities. Placement runs from June to August 2027, with hybrid onsite work in Edinburgh.

Qualifications

• Minimum predicted 2:2 in a relevant degree discipline (e.g. Software Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics or Electronic Engineering).
• 13-week paid industrial placement running 1 June 2027 – 27 August 2027.
• Interest in avionics software and real-time development is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Provide support to real projects in Edinburgh for Leonardo’s software teams.
• Design, test, qualify and support technology across our product range.
• Collaborate with engineers to deliver small packages on time and to quality.
