Job summary

Leonardo UK Ltd. seeks an Electronics Engineering MEng placement student for a 6-month paid program at our Edinburgh or Newcastle sites.

You'll work on real-world avionics sensor systems, apply university knowledge to actual projects, and develop hardware design skills with ECAD tools and test equipment, under supervision. The placement runs June–December 2027 with on-site learning three to four days weekly.

Qualifications

• Matriculated in an MEng course (Electronics/Engineering)
• A 6‑month industrial placement is required to meet course requirements
• Interest in Electronic Engineering disciplines (RF, Microwave, Power, FPGAs, etc.)

Responsibilities

• Contribute to solving real-life engineering problems on state‑of‑the‑art avionics sensor systems.
• Apply academic knowledge to real projects including design, testing, qualification and technology support.
• Develop practical hardware development skills using ECAD tools and test equipment.
• Learn under an experienced supervisor and the wider engineering community.
• Deliver technical reports and presentations on your assignments to your supervisor and peers.
• Deliver plans and reports to your university's required academic standards.
