Job summary

Leonardo UK Ltd invites high-potential students to join a 13-week Summer Placement Software Engineer programme in Edinburgh. The role focuses on real-world avionics projects, including radar systems.

You will collaborate in multidisciplinary teams, apply academic knowledge to practical engineering challenges, and gain exposure to the full product lifecycle. The placement runs from 1st June 2027 to 27th August 2027.

Qualifications

• Minimum predicted 2:2 in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics or Electronic Engineering.

Responsibilities

• Provide support to real placement projects.
• Apply knowledge gained in studies to practical engineering tasks.
• Undertake activities including designing, testing, and qualifying technology across products, with collaboration across the team.
• Work with experienced engineers and mentors to deliver small work packages on time, cost, and quality.
• Present your work at the start and end of the placement to the Head of Software and wider team.
