Job description

This post is to mainly work within the Paediatric Neurology Service providing Ketogenic Diets to children with epilepsy and other disorders where the treatment is proven to be effective. You will support a team of ketogenic dietitians and the Consultant Neurologists to provide this service.

  • To be responsible for assisting the Ketogenic dietitians to provide an efficient service to children on the Ketogenic Diet.
  • To work with training, support and supervision from the paediatric dietitians within the specialist area of Ketogenic paediatric dietetics.
  • You will work alongside 3 other dietetic assistants who work within our special feed unit. You will be required to do infrequent shifts within this unit to help support this service. This may include one Saturday morning shift a month and some bank holidays on a rota basis.
  • To carry out administrative tasks including preparation for clinics and other education/ health promotion programmes.

The successful candidate will be based at St George's Hospital within the dietetics team. The service is forward thinking, proactive and strongly supports continuous professional development and evidence based practice. Additionally, you will be actively encouraged to participate in service development, research, audit and the Clinical Governance objectives of the department and the Trust. We are a base trainer for student dietitians and are actively involved in the training of other staff.
