Job summary

SP Energy Networks in Glasgow/Cambuslang is seeking a Design Engineer (OHL) to develop and deliver engineering solutions for 33kV to 400kV transmission projects. The role reports to the Overhead Line Engineering Section Head and focuses on safety, quality and environmental compliance.

You will work on feasibility through to detailed design, with hybrid working (3 days in office, 2 days remote) and a salary from £45,400 per annum. Close on 9 Oct 2026.

Qualifications

• Degree in Electrical/Mechanical/Civil Engineering or HND or equivalent.
• Experience delivering engineering solutions for Transmission Overhead Lines.

Responsibilities

• Own pre-contract design information for OHL projects.
• Prepare detailed engineering specifications and designs for high-value transmission projects.
• Review drawings and technical specifications for construction, procurement and stakeholders.
• Provide technical guidance to project delivery teams across design, construction and maintenance.
• Promote CDM and Health & Safety best practices within a design environment.
