Job summary

A leading global organization is seeking an Optimization Functional Test SME based in Wokingham. The role involves collaborating with stakeholders and testing algorithms for the electricity system operator balancing program. Candidates should have experience in optimization problem-solving, data modeling, and proficiency in Python. This position offers a hybrid work model and a day rate of £425 for a 6-month contract.

Qualifications

• Proven experience solving optimization problems using a range of techniques.
• Ability to develop custom data models and algorithms for large datasets.
• Strong understanding of mathematical programming solvers (LP, QP, MIP, MILP, MIQP, MIQCP).
• Knowledge of data collection, preprocessing, and analysis.
• Proficiency in statistical computer languages to manipulate data and derive insights.

Responsibilities

• Work with project and customer teams on the Dispatch Algorithm within Balancing Transformation programs.
• Support Quality Assurance and development of modern optimization algorithms.
• Coordinate with functional teams and business users to review and test scenarios.
• Perform exploratory testing and identify defects.
• Contribute to the development of requirement tools and automation for algorithm testing.

This position will involve close collaboration with business stakeholders, QA teams, and developers to support testing and development of a modern dispatch optimisation algorithm.

• Work with project and customer teams on the Dispatch Algorithm within Balancing Transformation programs.
• Support Quality Assurance and development of modern optimisation algorithms.
• Coordinate with functional teams and business users to review and test scenarios.
• Perform exploratory testing, identify defects, and document observations.
• Contribute to the development of requirement tools and automation for algorithm testing.

About You

You will bring expertise in optimisation and testing, with strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Essential experience includes:

• Proven experience solving optimisation problems using a range of techniques.
• Ability to develop custom data models and algorithms for large datasets.
• Strong understanding of mathematical programming solvers (LP, QP, MIP, MILP, MIQP, MIQCP).
