Job summary

Newmedica is seeking an experienced Scrub Nurse/Practitioner to join our Northamptonshire theatre team. Full- and part-time roles available, including weekend rotas. You will scrub, set up theatre, and support the surgeon across cataract and other ophthalmic procedures, ensuring safety, hygiene and accurate records.

The role requires an NMC/HCPC registration and substantial ophthalmic experience. Excellent team collaboration and patient care are essential in a busy, high-volume setting.

Qualifications

Fully qualified Registered Nurse or Operating Department Practitioner with current NMC/HCPC registration.
Demonstrable experience across ophthalmic pathways: Cataract, Vitreoretinal and Oculoplastic.
Minimum 3 years in a hospital eye service or private eye clinic.
Able to set up for surgery and support the surgeon during theatre.

Responsibilities

Set up theatre for surgery and ensure sterile standards.
Support the surgeon through the daily ophthalmic list.
Prepare for case-by-case contingencies and resolve issues.
Handle medicine management, audits and maintain accurate patient records.
