Job summary

Newmedica in Plymouth is seeking a qualified Scrub Nurse / RN to join our high-volume theatre team. Full and part-time applications are considered, with weekend shifts on a rota basis.

You will scrub for cataract procedures, set up theatres, and support the surgeon throughout the list while ensuring patient safety and compliance. The role includes medicine management, audit duties, and accurate record-keeping, with emphasis on empathy for patients undergoing eye surgery.

Qualifications

• Fully qualified Registered Nurse or ODP with current NMC/HCPC registration.
• Cataract experience essential; experience in vitreoretinal, oculoplastic or MIGS desirable.
• Ability to set up for surgery and support surgeon during theatre, problem solving and maintaining safety.

Responsibilities

• Set up theatre for cataract surgery and support the surgeon.
• Provide scrub nurse duties and maintain patient safety and hygiene.
• Manage patient records and clinical waste in the theatre environment.
