Job summary

Newmedica is a leading NHS ophthalmology provider in England, delivering eye surgery and diagnostics. We seek a fully qualified Scrub Nurse/Practitioner to join our Whiteley theatre team, working 37.5 hours over 4 days per week with weekend rotation.

You will scrub for cataract cases, support surgeons, manage medicines, and maintain high safety and hygiene standards. Experience in ophthalmic theatre is preferred; training is available for those with extensive theatre scrub background.

Qualifications

• Must be a fully qualified Registered Nurse or Operating Department Practitioner with current NMC/HCPC registration.
• Ophthalmic theatre experience is preferred; can be taught if extensive theatre scrub experience exists.
• Knowledge of vitrectomy setup, phaco instrumentation, and lens implants is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Set up theatre for procedures and support the surgeon during lists.
• Ensure patient safety, hygiene, and clinical compliance.
• Manage medicines, audits, and accurate patient records.
