Job summary

Newmedica is seeking a Scrub Nurse/Practitioner at our Whiteley site. You will join a busy theatre team supporting cataract surgery and other ophthalmic procedures, ensuring patient safety and efficient theatre operations.

The ideal candidate will be a fully qualified Registered Nurse or ODP with current NMC/HCPC registration and ophthalmic theatre experience. Training can be provided for vitrectomy setup and Phaco instrumentation, with focus on high-volume performance.

Qualifications

• Fully qualified Registered Nurse or Operating Department Practitioner with current NMC/HCPC registration.
• Ophthalmic theatre experience preferred; can train if extensive theatre scrub experience.
• Ability to set up for vitrectomy, understand Phaco instrumentation and Biometry/Lens implants.

Responsibilities

• Provide competent scrub provision and support the surgeon through daily theatre list.
• Set up theatre to accommodate patients and maintain high patient safety and hygiene standards.
• Assist with medicine management and audit duties; maintain accurate patient records.
• Manage clinical waste and ensure correct disposal procedures.
