University Hospitals of Derby and Burton NHS Foundation Trust is seeking an Service Manager for Oncology to join the senior management team. The role includes line management of administrative staff, budget responsibility, and leading service development projects within the Oncology Business Unit.

Responsibilities

• Line Management and Budget holder for the administrative function across the Business Unit.
• Co-ordinating the delivery of key performance management targets.
• Lead on specific areas of service development and transformation, supporting the General Manager and wider team.
• Work closely with the Deputy General Manager and General Manager on issues of service planning, finance, information and HR, deputising for them at relevant meetings.
• Ensure effective delivery of services by providing leadership, support and guidance on operational issues relating to clinical and non-clinical staff.
• Plan and implement programmes of service improvement, taking the lead on projects aligned with the Business Unit’s plans.
• Lead responsibility for the administration staff to ensure workforce utilisation and manage disciplinary, grievance, appraisal and attendance issues.
• Collaborate with other managers to ensure effective utilisation of administrative resources and staff training and development.
• Work with senior management on financial issues, identifying and leading income-generating opportunities.
• Has delegated authority to approve financial expenditure.
