Job summary

Thames Water is recruiting a Mechanical & Electrical Technician to join our team at the Oxford site. You will inspect, maintain, fault diagnose, test, install, modify or repair mechanical plant and electrical equipment with minimum supervision to keep our sites operational.

You should be time-served with electrical apprenticeship, upskill in mechanical, and hold ONC/HNC or NVQ/C&G level 3. A valid driving licence is essential.

Qualifications

• Must have time-served apprenticeship with significant experience in electrical systems in a true multi-skilled capacity.
• Upskilled with a mechanical qualification to inspect, maintain, fault diagnose, testing, installing, modifying or repairing mechanical and electrical plant equipment safely and efficiently.
• For individuals with mechanical or electrical experience only, we will develop dual-skilled status.
• Knowledge and awareness of health and safety issues are crucial.
• Work will require physical fitness; confined spaces; training completed.
• A valid driving licence is essential; vehicle and tools provided.

Responsibilities

• Carry out scheduled planned maintenance on mechanical and electrical equipment.
• Investigate plant failures and perform rapid repairs to avoid process interruptions.
• Provide technical advice and refer to up-to-date knowledge; train trainees if required.
• Work on pumps, 3-phase motors, control gear, VSDs, valves and dosing equipment.
• Participate in standby rota after relevant training.
