Job summary

Thames Water is seeking a Mechanical & Electrical Technician for our Speen Newbury site (RG14 1RT). You will inspect, maintain, diagnose faults, test, install, modify and repair mechanical and electrical plant and equipment with safety and efficiency at the forefront.

The role requires an electrical apprenticeship with additional mechanical upskilling. A valid driving licence is essential, and on-call standby duties may apply. Competitive package and pension available.

Qualifications

• Time-served apprenticeship with significant electrical experience in a multi-skilled role.
• Upskilled with a mechanical qualification to inspect, maintain, fault diagnose, test, install, modify or repair plant safely.
• Willingness to develop into dual-skilled status as needed.
• Knowledge of health and safety requirements is essential.

Responsibilities

• Carry out scheduled maintenance on mechanical and electrical equipment to minimise breakdowns.
• Investigate plant failures and perform rapid repairs to avoid process interruptions.
• Provide technical advice and up-to-date knowledge; train or support trainees if required.
• Be prepared to participate in standby rota and on-call duties.
