Job summary

Manifest Recruitment Limited is partnering with a Manchester-based freight forwarder to recruit an experienced Ocean Freight Export Clerk. The role covers end-to-end Ocean Export shipments (FCL/LCL) from booking to departure, with close interaction with customers, lines, hauliers and overseas agents. Hybrid work applies: 3 days in the office, 2 days from home.

Salary up to £35,000 DOE. Hours are Mon-Fri, 9:00–17:30. Knowledge of UK export procedures and CargoWise C1 would be advantageous.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years' Ocean Freight Export experience.
• Experience managing Ocean Export shipments from start to finish.
• Good knowledge of FCL and LCL Export operations.
• Experience handling Ocean Export documentation.
• Understanding of UK Export customs procedures.
• CargoWise C1 experience would be advantageous.
• Ocean Import experience would be beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Managing Ocean Export shipments from booking through to final departure.
• Handling both FCL and LCL Export movements.
• Arranging bookings with shipping lines and co-loaders.
• Coordinating collections and transport from customer premises through to port.
• Preparing and processing export documentation, including Bills of Lading and Shipping Instructions.
• Liaising with customers, shipping lines, hauliers and overseas agents throughout the shipment lifecycle.
• Monitoring shipments, providing customer updates and resolving operational issues.
• Processing invoices, recording shipment costs and supporting shipment profitability.

Freight Forwarding Manchester

Up to 35,000 DOE

We are currently working with an established international freight forwarding business looking for an experienced Ocean Freight Export Clerk to join their Manchester operation.

This is a hands-on operational role managing Ocean Export shipments from start to finish, covering both FCL and LCL movements. You'll take ownership of shipments from booking through to departure, working closely with customers, shipping lines, hauliers and overseas agents to ensure freight moves smoothly and on schedule.

The role also offers hybrid working, with three days in the office and two days working from home.

The role will involve:
