Ocean Export Coordinator

The Opportunity
Our client, a well-established and growing international freight forwarding business, is seeking an experienced Ocean Export Coordinator to join their busy operations team based in Solihull.
This is a fantastic opportunity for an organised and customer-focused freight forwarding professional to manage ocean import shipments from origin through to final delivery. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring shipments are handled efficiently while delivering outstanding service to customers and overseas partners.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the end-to-end ocean Export process from booking through to final delivery.
- Liaise with overseas agents, shipping lines, hauliers, customs brokers and customers to ensure the smooth movement of cargo.
- Monitor shipments and provide customers with regular progress updates.
- Prepare and process export documentation accurately and in accordance with company procedures.
- Coordinate customs clearance and ensure compliance with all UK Export regulations.
- Arrange transport and final deliveries with hauliers and warehouse partners.
- Raise job files, check costs and process supplier and customer invoices.
- Resolve any shipment delays or operational issues in a professional and timely manner.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, suppliers and overseas partners.
- Ensure all files are completed accurately and meet company KPIs and service standards.
About You
- Previous experience working within Ocean Export in a freight forwarding environment is ideal, but similar backgrounds will be considered.
- A good understanding of international shipping documentation and import procedures.
- Knowledge of UK customs processes (desirable but not essential).
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple shipments at once.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- A proactive approach to problem-solving and the ability to work under pressure.
- Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office and freight forwarding systems.
- The ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
