Job summary

WR Logistics in Solihull is seeking an Ocean Import Operations Coordinator to own a portfolio of import shipments and ensure efficient, compliant operations from origin to final delivery.

You will liaise with overseas agents, shipping lines, hauliers, customers and other suppliers, manage documentation and customs clearance, and maintain accurate shipment records while delivering regular updates and seeking continuous improvement.

Ocean Import Operations Coordinator

Location: Solihull

Working pattern: Monday to Friday 8:45 - 17:15 Fully onsite

Salary: Up to £35,000

We're currently recruiting on behalf of an established and growing freight forwarding business based in Solihull, who are looking to strengthen their team with an experienced Ocean Import Operations professional.

This is a great opportunity for someone with a solid background in ocean freight who enjoys the operational side of forwarding and wants to join a well-established business where they can play a key role in managing shipments from origin through to final delivery.

The Role

As an Ocean Import Operations Coordinator, you'll take ownership of a portfolio of import shipments, ensuring everything is managed efficiently, accurately and to the required customer and compliance standards.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Managing ocean import shipments from arrival through to final delivery
• Liaising with overseas agents, shipping lines, hauliers, customers and other suppliers
• Monitoring vessel arrivals, transit times and shipment milestones
• Handling import documentation and ensuring paperwork is accurate and complete
• Arranging customs clearance and coordinating deliveries
• Providing customers with regular shipment updates
• Resolving operational issues and delays quickly and effectively
• Checking and processing freight and supplier invoices
• Updating internal systems and maintaining accurate shipment records
• Ensuring all shipments are handled in line with company procedures and relevant regulations

About You

We're looking for someone who already understands the ocean freight forwarding environment and can confidently manage import shipments with minimal supervision.

You will ideally have:

• Previous experience within ocean import operations
• Experience working for a freight forwarder, logistics provider or similar
• Good knowledge of the end-to-end import process
• Strong communication and customer service skills
• Excellent attention to detail and organisational ability
• The confidence to liaise with overseas offices, customers and suppliers
• Experience with customs procedures and freight forwarding systems would be advantageous.
