Job summary

Education Authority (Northern Ireland) is seeking a Nursery Assistant to support teaching staff in a designated class, indoors and outdoors. Qualifications

• Hold a Level 2 (or equivalent) qualification in a relevant area.
• Minimum 6 weeks experience in a learning environment or placement.
• Knowledge of health and safety, child protection and safeguarding.
• Understanding of nurture school concepts and the role of play in learning.
• Ability to plan, organise and work within a team with clear communication.

Responsibilities

• Assist with educational support and care of children in a designated class.
• Work with the teacher to promote the efficient running of the class.
• Establish supportive relationships with children and parents.
• Contribute to planning, preparation and display of children's work.
• Assist with toileting, personal hygiene and dressing of children.
• Provide supervision of medicines and deal with minor injuries.
• Attend in-service training and staff meetings as required.
