Job summary

A leading engineering firm in Bristol is seeking a passionate Process Engineer to contribute to exciting projects in the Nuclear EMEA business. The ideal candidate will have a BEng/MEng in Chemical or Process Engineering, with nuclear industry experience preferred. This role includes leading a team, performing process modelling, and ensuring technical delivery on projects, all while fostering a diverse and inclusive work culture.

Qualifications

  • IChemE chartership is preferred.
  • Experience in the nuclear industry is ideal.
  • Understanding nuclear basics is expected.

Overview

AtkinsRéalis is looking to grow our team of process engineers within the Nuclear EMEA business. If you have the passion to join some of these exciting projects, then we would love to hear from you.

About us: We work collaboratively to solve technical challenges across the entire project lifecycle, from concept design to decommissioning. Our day to day activities include production of process engineering deliverables (process sizing calculations, heat & material balances, P&IDs, etc.), process modelling, and process safety activities (HAZID/HAZOP studies, DSEAR assessments, etc.). We collaborate across the AtkinsRéalis business to provide our technical expertise where it is needed the most, giving our clients the best engineering solutions. We strengthen the delivery of work through a variety of means, including full-time embedded resource within client offices, site-based roles, and in-house engineering support from AtkinsRéalis offices. At all times we are focused on providing high quality work to the client.

Responsibilities
  • Contribute to production of process engineering deliverables (process sizing calculations, heat & material balances, P&IDs, etc.).
  • Perform process modelling and participate in safety activities (e.g., HAZID/HAZOP studies, DSEAR assessments).
  • Collaborate across the AtkinsRéalis business to provide technical expertise and support client needs; options include embedded resources, site-based roles, or in-house engineering support.
  • Lead a small team of engineers; engage with clients and understand the commercial aspects of the work.
  • Mentor and guide junior engineers and take a key role within the department.
Qualifications
  • Qualified engineers (BEng/MEng in Chemical or Process Engineering), with IChemE chartership if possible.
  • Experience in the nuclear industry is ideal; understanding nuclear basics is expected.
  • Skills in chemical process simulation software for design, optimization, and troubleshooting, or experience with model-based systems approaches (MBSA).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Willingness to mentor others and take a leading role within the department.
