Job summary

Sainsbury’s Group is seeking a Lead Nightshift Manager in Portsmouth to oversee overnight operations and a small team of managers. You’ll drive replenishment, planning for trading events, and people management to deliver a safe, high-performing store overnight.

The role offers a £4,500 premium on top of base salary, with night shifts typically 22:00–08:00 and four-night working weeks. Strong leadership and KPI focus are essential for this customer‑facing, fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Experience leading large teams in fast-paced, customer-facing environments.
• Proven ability to deliver and improve KPIs across store operations.
• Manage complex people matters including performance, absence, and formal ER cases.
• Lead operational teams, owning store performance in absence of senior leadership.
• Evidence of leading change and embedding new ways of working.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage a small team of managers overnight, delivering replenishment activities for customers the next morning.
• Plan for key trading events by working with the store leadership team.
• People management including scheduling, training, performance and absence management.
• Maintain accountability for overnight store health, safety and efficiency.
• Ensure safe, inclusive environment for all colleagues on shift.
