Job summary

Gist, part of the M&S Group, is seeking a Warehouse Section Leader to support the night shift and ensure smooth operation across a busy facility at Portbury. You'll work closely with the Warehouse Shift Manager, coordinate activity, monitor KPIs and uphold safety, accuracy and high standards while guiding colleagues through a 4 on, 4 off, 6pm–6am schedule.

Qualifications

• Previous warehouse, logistics or operational experience in FMCG or high-volume environment.
• Understanding of warehouse operations and changing priorities.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office and reports.
• Experience using a Warehouse Management System (SAP or similar).
• Understanding KPIs and performance measures, or willingness to learn.
• Strong communication and ability to provide clear direction.
• Good organisational and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to support employee relations activities when required.
• Collaborative approach with colleagues and managers.
• Strong focus on safety, accuracy and standards.
• Flexibility to adapt to changing shift requirements.

Responsibilities

• Support daily resource planning to meet operational demand.
• Coordinate warehouse and outbound activity to move products safely and on time.
• Monitor KPIs and help implement performance improvements.
• Produce and maintain operational reports.
• Manage sickness, holidays and staff availability across the shift.
• Assist Warehouse Shift Manager with people-related activity.
• Provide clear communication across the operation and set priorities.
• Support induction and development of new starters and training.
• Identify issues or risks and work with the team to resolve quickly.
• Champion health and safety in the workplace.
• Support wider warehouse activity as priorities change.
• Coordinate with other site areas for effective handovers.
