Chevron Traffic Management is hiring for Night Shift Operatives in Newport to manage high-speed traffic with a focus on safety and efficiency. Roles include Operative, Foreman, or IPV Foreman/Operative, with flexible nights and weekend work as required.

Qualifications

• 12AB, 12b LTMO or 12a Traffic Management Foreman qualification is essential.
• Full UK driving licence with no more than 6 points; bans must be 5+ years old.
• Must pass drug and alcohol tests during recruitment process.
• Knowledge of Chapter 8 regulations is required.

Responsibilities

• Install, operate and maintain traffic management equipment.
• Lead or support a crew to deliver work safely and efficiently.
• Set up lane closures and diversion routes.
• Carry out site checks in line with regulations.
• Communicate with clients and internal teams.
• Complete traffic counts and near-miss documentation.
• Ensure health and safety standards are met.
• Mentor and support trainees and new team members.

Your role across our Traffic Management Team

Whether you join us as an Operative, Foreman, or IPV Foreman/Operative, you’ll play a key role in keeping roads safe and projects running smoothly.

Your Responsibilities May Include

• Installing, maintaining, and removing traffic management equipment (cones, signs, barriers, and lights)
• Driving and operating IPV vehicles where qualified
• Leading or supporting a crew to ensure all work is delivered safely and efficiently
• Setting up and managing lane closures, road closures, and diversion routes
• Carrying out site checks in line with Chapter 8 regulations
• Communicating with clients, subcontractors, and internal teams
• Completing traffic counts, reports, and near-miss documentation
• Ensuring compliance with health and safety standards at all times
• Supporting and mentoring trainees and new team members
• Assisting supervisors and managers to ensure projects are delivered on time

What are we looking for?

• Qualifications: 12AB, 12b LTMO or 12a Traffic Management Foreman qualification
• Knowledge: Familiarity with Chapter 8 regulations
• Driving Licence: Full licence with no more than 6 points. Any driving bans must have expired at least 5 years ago
• Testing: Must pass a drug and alcohol test (offer contingent on results)
• Attitude: Positive, “can-do” mindset
• Skills: Adaptability, flexibility, and meticulous attention to detail
• IPV qualification
• HGV licence
